Lily Greenwood - New Artist in Pad Shop

Originally from Cumbria, Lily graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2005. She devoted her final year at school to writing and illustrating a children’s picture book. Since then, she has focused on painting and is currently holds a studio at Manchester Craft & Design Centre (Studio 25). Lily’s subject matter is inspired by her love of nature - in particular birds, flowers and butterflies – and Japanese kimono design. She enjoys using a combination of striking patterns and bold colours. Working predominantly in acrylic on canvas, Lily also includes inks, watercolours, pastels and collage. For her butterfly paintings, she carefully hand-paints the butterflies before reproducing them to be used as collage material, to which she then adds a wash of ink and other details before finishing with a glossy varnish, which offers an opulent lustre.
