A pewter designer and maker, Ella is fascinated by the age-old metal which is seeped in history and tradition within the metalworking industry. This influence and inspiration can be seen in her work and has lead to her exploration of old methods of production. Interested in the unique qualities of pewter, such as its softness, malleability and low melting temperature, Ella creates striking objects that celebrate it as a revitalized metal. In a conscious effort to move away from the traditional roles of working in pewter, which is often heavy and over-embellished, Ella creates modern, sleek and elegant forms that further remove pewter from its traditional role of copying silver designs.
